Masala Wada

When I started this blog, it was meant as a way to express my love for food from home as well as my love for worldwide cuisine. Now each time time make something, I forget the taking step by step pictures. YouTube and all other food bloggers have these recipes/steps covered. But here’s why I still do it , even though it’s not frequently done. Food is an integral part of our lives, there are traditions and emotions attached. Therefore many times a food item become and emotion and not just. Masala wada remind me of my childhood because it’s one item my mom made for me often. It was always had with a cup of “plain tea”. I will leave it at that. After I left home I tried making this on my own, and realize that it never is going to be like the time I had it at my moms. Because that’s an emotion. Now my life has grown, changed a lot and lots of new emotions in the mix, now this simple wada brings a sense of comfort on a rainy or cold day with a cup of hot chai. That’s where my life is at, complete peace. I urge you to try this…

What I used -

  1. Few handfuls of soaked Chana dal

  2. A handful of dried peanuts

  3. Green chilies - how spicey you want it?

  4. Hing

  5. Some curry leaves.

How I did it -

Grind it all up, coarse, not quite smooth. Make thin patties and fry it in hot oil.
